This manual has been designed to guide the development and enhancement of clinical education sites and to clarify the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of Clinical Instructors (CIs) and Center Coordinators of Clinical Education (CCCEs). It provides 17 guidelines for education sites and 6 guidelines for CIs and CCCEs, each of which is followed by a companion self-assessment tool. These voluntary guidelines are intended to provide greater consistency in the expectations for CIs who provide, supervise, and assess clinical learning experiences for students. Language contained in this document is congruent with APTA core documents, including the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice, A Normative Model for Physical Therapist Professional Education, and A Normative Model for Physical Therapist Assistant Education.
